Take me to the forest out into the woods Out to the mountaintop where we once stood I need to lie out under the towering pines Fall asleep under a wide-open sky Come together, every man every child Every woman and girl, every boy running wild Let’s go, what are you waiting for Let’s go, what are you waiting for Light, light is all around Life is brighter than you found I gotta feel some softness under my feet I gotta go before I’m hard as concrete My heart is racing, gonna get there soon I wanna swim under a big diamond moon Come together, every man every child Every woman and girl, every boy running wild Let’s go, what are you waiting for Let’s go, what are you waiting for Light, light is all around Life is brighter than you found Take me to the forest, take me to the woods We’ve almost made it and we really should Come together, every man every child Every woman and girl, every boy running wild Let’s go, what are you waiting for Let’s go, what are you waiting for Let’s go, what are you waiting for Let’s go, what are you waiting for Light, light is all around Life is brighter than you found

Kiss Kiss 02:47
Wipe that grin off of your face, give me your real embrace, or get outta my place Don’t try so hard to hold all of the cards I’d rather curl up with some wine in a cup, cuz No one else will make you want to scream out loud when I do that thing You know the figure eights, you know you just can’t wait, I got you hooked like a fish on a bait, so Swivel my hips and turn me over Lick your lips, I’ll be right over Turn me round and meet my eyes I wanna stretch you half-asleep, tell you secrets you can’t keep, I want to sing Oh! Kiss Kiss Oh! Kiss kiss kiss Oh! Kiss Kiss Oh! Kiss kiss kiss kiss Oh! Kiss Kiss Oh! Kiss kiss kiss Oh! Kiss Kiss Oh! Kiss kiss kiss kiss Come slip and slide and seek and hide, your love is deep inside And you’re big and you’re strong, and you’re singing my song, Whatever we do there ain’t anything wrong, so Got my knees to my chest, there’s no need to impress me, I’ll do the rest You’ll be able to tell when you’re ringing my bell, yes you’ll hear it perfectly well, so Swivel my hips and turn me over Lick my lips, I’ll come all over Turn me round and meet my eyes I wanna stretch you half-asleep, tell you secrets you can’t keep, sing with me Oh! Kiss Kiss Oh! Kiss kiss kiss Oh! Kiss Kiss Oh! Kiss kiss kiss kiss Oh! Kiss Kiss Oh! Kiss kiss kiss Oh! Kiss Kiss Oh! Kiss kiss kiss kiss
3.
Take me somewhere perfectly still Under the trees in the dark At the top of the hill Feel the wind blow in the low fading light Make us a bed in the pines And I’ll sleep well tonight Beneath a million white stars Beneath a million white stars We’ve come so far Blow the fire, breathe it to life Watching it dance in the silent black world Of the night Beneath a million white stars Beneath a million white stars We’ve come so far Above the city lights There are no walls between us And in the darkest night The stars will reveal us Sing me your deepest touch Ringing through your guitar Tell me your secrets I’ll keep them right where they are Beneath a million white stars Beneath a million white stars Beneath a million white stars Oh we’ve come so far

Some Days 03:55
The sun rises when we’re sleeping Sinks while we’re watching tv Night falls and we’re dreaming Of what’s past or yet to be We ain’t dead yet, but we sure ain’t free We ain’t dead yet, but we sure ain’t free Oh some days are better than others Don’t matter where you’re going to Don’t matter where you’ve been Cuz this day is like no other And it ain’t never ever coming back again The telephone is ringing All you wanna do is hide Far away you hear a singing Birds are calling you outside Open your door now, go on and see Open your door now, go on, you’re free Cuz some days are better than others Don’t matter where you’re going to Don’t matter where you’ve been Cuz this day is like no other And it ain’t never ever coming back again Oh it ain’t never ever coming back again Yeah it ain’t never ever coming back again
5.
Take Off 04:53
When we take off And leave the ground We’ll be high Above the tiny town The little houses and their little yards When we take off, and leave the ground We’ll be high above the tiny town Way above the trees The people in their worlds upon the freeways So high above the sea As long as you hold my hand As we watch the swift receding land, I’ll know no fear And if my number’s up today Well then God will take me just this way ‘Cause I knew true peace while I was here When we take off, and leave the ground We’ll be high above the tiny town Way above the trees The people in their worlds upon the freeways So high above the sea The sparkling golden sea So high above the sea, yeah When we take off, and leave the ground When we take off, and leave the ground When we take off, and leave the ground

Rare Find 03:23
It’s not every day someone’s laugh makes me high It’s not every day someone’s voice makes me sigh It’s not every day someone’s touch makes me cry It’s not every day someone enters my dreams Or fits right inside me right up to the seams It’s not every day And I’ve waited forever, it seems Yes you my friend are a rare rare find Just the right fix for my body and mind And everyone else is just wasting my time Who knows the reason we met But one thing’s for sure and I’m willing to bet You’re gonna be someone I’ll never forget Because you make me happy and you make me wet Yes you my friend are a rare rare find Just the right fix for my body and mind And all of those others are just wasting my time I thought I was done looking for the one I gave it the best shot I could But it had barely begun before it just wasn’t fun This time it’s gonna be good Yeah it’s not every day someone comes my way Who thrills me enough to get me to stay Cuz I’m so used to keeping em safely at bay But you my friend are a rare rare find Just the right fix for my body and mind You’re better than weed you’re better than sugar and wine You make me write love songs And you make me shine Yes you my love are a rare rare find Yes you my love are a rare rare find
7.
I don’t need you every day And some nights another body’s in the way You’re not the only one who really needs your space But when you wrap your legs around mine And press your belly up against my spine There’s one day a week I’d like to kiss your face Won’t you be my Sunday boyfriend I’m not asking you for much Just to lie in bed when the sun goes down With a movie and your touch Be my Sunday boyfriend, oohhh oohhh Monday morning when you leave with the dawn I’ll get up and put the kettle on I’ll walk the dogs, a peaceful smile on my face You don’t have to call me all week I’ll save up my stories for when we speak Oh, I am patient, I can wait Oh, be my Sunday boyfriend I’m not asking you for much Just to lie in bed when the sun goes down With a movie and your touch Be my Sunday boyfriend, my Sunday boyfriend, be my my Sunday boyfriend oohhh oohhh If you won’t give me your all, then I’ll take half ‘Cause you really turn me on and you make me laugh And I’m incredibly picky, I only like you So you better come through And be my Sunday boyfriend I’m not asking you for much Just to lie in bed when the sun goes down With a movie and your touch Be my Sunday boyfriend, my Sunday boyfriend, be my my Sunday boyfriend oohhh oohhh
8.
Lay You Down 04:20
When your eyes met mine The room was still Inside our circle In the eye of the storm You ask to be reborn To lay you down Well, I will Lay you down, in silence easy Yes I will It’s all right Later tonight I’ll lay you down It’s all right Cuz later on tonight I’m gonna lay you down I love the way you hit the bass Your eyes turned up into your faraway face Your mouth was open, and so was mine You rock my world, you ease my mind It’s all right Later tonight I’ll lay you down It’s all right Cuz later on tonight I’m gonna lay you down
9.
In My Dream 03:14
I didn’t wanna freak you out this morning When I heard your voice so far away So I just listened to you yawning I didn’t tell you what I wanted to say See you were in my dream this morning And it seems I love you still Yeah, you, you just appear, no warning It seems you always will Did I cross your mind while you were sleeping Did I crawl into your darkened mind Did I appear in your deepest story And did your mouth touch mine Cuz you were in my dream this morning It seems I love you still Yeah you, you just appear, no warning And it seems you always will I close my eyes and there you are I can’t get far away from you Because you were in my dream this morning It seems I love you still Oh you, you just appear, no warning It seems you always will You were in my dream this morning And I love you still Yeah you you just appear no warning It seems you always will
10.
Turned away from the good ones And I got burned by the bad I would've done it all over again If I knew what I had Now everybody is a mother and a wife And still I wander through This lonely gypsy life I better be my own most loving parent I better be my own most beloved child I better be my own most willing lover And let my spirit run wild One day soon I will be fatherless and motherless Each year I reach an age I never saw before I thought by now that a couple of kids would be playing on the floor But I made my bed and now I here I lie With only me to blame With these old bones and wrinkled freckled skin And my old maiden name I better be my own most loving parent I better be my own most beloved child I better be my own most willing lover And let my spirit run wild I want to watch the world Through the eyes of a baby New and beautiful Mystical and crazy I want to have a strong man by my side You know I tried, I tried I better be my own most loving parent I better be my own most beloved child I better be my own most willing lover And let my tears run wild I better be my own most loving parent I better be my own most beloved child
11.
Been dark and cloudy Grey all day Looking for blue in the blackened sky Seems like nothing’s gonna go my way But I see you laughing through that crack in the sky And I know somewhere above the curtains of rain I see you smiling through the hurt and the pain And when the storm is over, only you will remain To paint your colors all across the sky You show me Show me a rainbow, I can’t wait anymore If you can hear me now, send me your sign Cuz I’ve been dreaming and I’ve been here before And I know you’re near me now, cuz I see you shine I know somewhere above the curtains of rain I see you smiling through the hurt and the pain And when the storm is over, only you will remain To paint your colors all across the sky Oh show me Show me a rainbow Show me a rainbow Show me a rainbow Just when I’d given up my life to fate You remind me that it’s not too late And thank you kindly, it was worth the wait When you paint your colors all across the sky A pastel work of art from way up high You show me Show me a rainbow Show me a rainbow Show me a rainbow
12.
God’s got a plan, God’s got a plan God’s got a plan, a plan for me God’s got a plan I’ll find my man When he finds me I’ll do my thing I’ll play and sing And whatever will be will be God’s got a plan I’ll find my man When he finds me And in his eyes, I’ll see so faraway So faraway, across the sea God’s got a plan He’s got a plan A plan for me God’s got a plan He’s got my hand So I can stand up all of me God’s got a plan God’s got a plan A plan for me And in his eyes, I’ll see so faraway So faraway, across the sea God’s got a plan So take my hand And we’ll be free

about

It's taken Sara Melson five years to follow up her fine 2008 Nettwerk debut Dirty Mind, but the upcoming April 30 album A Million White Stars is clearly well worth the wait. Intact are the sprightly folk/pop tracks and vocals shaded with tender vulnerability that have made Melson a popular source of songs for TV shows like Grey's Anatomy. But what sets Melson's own particular songcraft apart from the thousands of female singer/songwriters is the palpable strength and honesty that flows through her music. In a cookie-cutter world littered with songs more interested in "marketing" than music, she's simply not afraid to wear her own real emotions prominently on her sleeve.

While many of A Millon White Star's songs are permeated with thoughtful reflection, lead single "What Are You Waiting For" is simply a two-and-a-half minute anthem celebrating the urgency of the moment. It is the aural equivalent of a bright, sunny day: a breezy, uptempo and completely infectious song, propelled by a tender-hooked chorus and insistent hand-clapped rhythms. "My heart is racing, gonna get there soon" sings Sara above a breathless instrumental clip asking, of course, in the end "what are you waiting for?"
