One day I didn’t have a care Except my picture in the mirror and the color of my hair I sang along to records about tomorrow Now my hands are worn, my clothes are torn A lot of my dreams have been met with scorn And I don’t have too much time left to borrow But still I’m gonna love you like I’ve never been hurt before Gonna open up the lock and let you in the door Love you like I’ve never been hurt, I’m gonna start all over and know what it’s worth Love you like I’ve never been hurt before Your stubborn independence Reminds me of myself It doesn’t make a lot of sense It isn’t very good for health I know you want to be alone But I sure like talking on the phone And I’ve finally left my carry-on bag behind me Yeah I wanna love you like I’ve never been hurt before Open up the lock and let you in the door Love you like I’ve never been hurt I wanna start all over and know what it’s worth Love you like I’ve never been hurt before I’ll start at the beginning My fear has got no chance of winning My pride is not what’s deep inside And I don’t wanna hide anymore So I’m going to love you like I’ve never been hurt before Open up the lock and let you in the door Love you like I’ve never been hurt We can start all over and know what it’s worth Love you like I’ve never been hurt before
2.
Home to me is by your side Take the wheel, I’m along for the ride I tried to be brave, but I guess I lied When I said I was fine without you I don’t need to make future plans As long as you just hold my hand I want you to know I understand, I’m patient, I don’t doubt you I’ll go anywhere anytime I’ll go anywhere anytime I’ll go anywhere anytime With you When you’re up in the sky above the sea and the clouds Think of how I called your name out loud Think of how if you weren’t so proud You could be my lover And then when your plane touches solid ground And the taxi whisks you on into town In the glittering lights I’ll be all around ‘Cause we belong with each other Oh, I’ll go anywhere anytime I’ll go anywhere anytime I’ll go anywhere anytime With you, with you If you’re up for an adventure, let’s go Bring a warm coat for the snow We’ve got so far to go, you take the wheel I can’t explain, but every time it rains This is how I feel Oh, I’ll go anywhere anytime I’ll go anywhere anytime I’ll go anywhere anytime With you, with you
3.
That’s it, I’m all better now Spit up the last of what made me hurt And I feel light as a feather now At last I finally know my worth Thought I’d never learn to be alone Open all my windows wide Turn the ringer off the phone Light my orange candles every night And I’m wishing on a new moon Something better’s coming It’s coming soon I feel it coming, I feel it coming, I feel it coming I close my eyes up on the high, high dive Stretch my arms up to the sky Endless water lies deep below But somewhere up in the air I’ll learn to fly And I’m wishing on a new moon Something better’s coming It’s coming soon I feel it coming, I feel it coming, I feel it coming It’s so easy to complain But it’ll make you insane That same routine The impulse to be mean But the grass is oh so green After winter rain And I feel it coming, I feel it coming, I feel it coming I feel it coming, I feel it coming, I feel it coming
4.
You’re the king of downtown You move around with your head in the sky Sing to the clouds, leave the ground And you’re ready to fly But you’re all alone You’re all alone You’re going to be hard, hard pressed Hard, hard pressed So hard, hard, hard pressed To find a woman like me Race through the city of your secret thoughts And your darkest fears You don’t even know me, you’ve no idea Just wait a few years When you’re all alone You’re all alone You’re going to be hard, hard pressed Hard, hard pressed So hard, hard, hard pressed To find a woman like me Search the whole wide world over Search the whole wide world over Go ahead, you can search the whole world over Just wait and see I got confused, I thought you loved me, I don’t know why But you were just my muse Maybe someday I’ll make you cry When you’re all alone You’re all alone 'Cause you’re going to be hard, hard pressed Hard, hard pressed So hard, hard, hard pressed To find a woman like me You’re going to be hard, hard pressed Hard, hard, hard pressed So hard, hard, hard pressed To find a woman like me
5.
You say I shouldn’t wait around And you’re impossible to pin down Well I just don’t care See I’ve had my share of different guys And they don’t have your mischievous shining eyes And you’re the perfect size Maybe someday you will rise Rise up to everyone’s surprise Rise up above your fear And I will be right here Is love a luxury that you can’t afford When you’ve made your plans and know what lies in store Well no one knows Maybe someday you will rise Rise up to everyone’s surprise Rise up above your fear And I will be right here You don’t have to choose which part of your life to lose Cuz you can have it all right now if you’re not afraid You’ll go far, but right now here you are So won’t you have some faith in all of those dues you’ve paid So come on rise, rise, rise up to your own surprise Rise up above your fear And I will be right here Come on rise, rise, rise up to your own surprise Rise up and fly away That’ll be a gorgeous day

You fell down to me Out of the great big blue And suddenly no one else will do You’re inside my eyes The moon was new It was the first day of spring The very beginning Of our big surprise Look up at the turquoise sky The first star’s the one I’m wishing on tonight Wherever you go, so will I We walk below the same sky I threw my quarter to the wishing well I kissed your head, we heard the children yell I was high underneath your spell In the softest sun It felt like you could be the one Look up at the turquoise sky The first star’s the one that I’m wishing on tonight Wherever you go, so will I We walk below the same sky We walk below the same sky Wherever you are, look up at the last day’s light See the first star, that’s the one that I’m wishing on tonight Wherever you go, so will I We walk below the same sky So look up at the turquoise sky The first star’s the one I’m wishing on tonight Wherever you go, so will I We walk below the same sky We walk below the same sky We walk below the same sky

I have not been honest with myself Not with you, nor with anyone else I haven’t had respect for time I can’t bind the wind, I can’t catch the sand But I’m learning to write with my left hand And one day, I’ll learn the art of dying Please God, take care of me, Enter me so I may be free Help me breathe in slowly, without fear Why can’t I accept the truth Even I will lose my youth I’d better learn this lesson while I’m here I hear the ghost of my beloved dog Crackling leaves as we walk through the fog Memories fade to dreams year after year Seems like lifetimes ago And one day so will this moment now A distance so far and yet so near Please God, take care of me, Enter me so I may be free Help me breathe in slowly, without fear Why can’t I accept the truth Even I will lose my youth I’d better learn this lesson while I’m here I’ve been a temperamental loner And a superstitious stoner I have run from the law, Just to write a song Trying to see without my glasses As the world outside my window passes Why do I struggle just to get along Please God, take care of me, Enter me so I may be free Help me breathe in slowly, without fear Why can’t I accept the truth Even I will lose my youth I’d better learn this lesson while I’m here Oh, I’d better learn this lesson while I’m here

about

I had the opportunity to re-visit several of my favorites from my first record, Dirty Mind... These songs came out in different form originally in 2008 on Nettwerk Records. These new versions are quite different, with some additional changes in the writing, as well as the production. I had a blast re-interpreting these tracks... I hope you enjoy! ~ Sara
